/////// artist statement

The gap between the artist and viewer is much smaller when performance and writing are the chosen methods to reduce the distance. Through performance I can engage a different level of intimacy with the audience, there is shyness and openness prevalent that is reflected in body language seen in the documentation.  I am interested in drawing out questions, memories, and dreams from the audience to reflect upon and in return give my own thoughts on these subjects.  This dialogue happens through asking questions of the viewer and reacting to our conversation during the performance. My inspiration is drawn from authors like Virginia Woolf and Jack Kerouac, both have a stream of conscious-like style of writing that involves memories and dreams. Woolf was interested in knowing the person behind the memory because the person is as interesting as the events itself. I also want to engage with the people behind the dreams and understand where these ideas come from. The relationships I form through performance are strengthened by the pieces they take with them. These pieces of writing remind them of the participation they engaged themselves in and continue a reflection of the subject at hand.
